A historic moment brought to life: In August 2026, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera, and members of the orchestra visited the Richard Wagner Museum during their European tour. On the staircase of Wagner’s former home, they performed the Siegfried Idyll – in the very place where it premiered on December 25, 1870 to celebrate his wife Cosima’s birthday.
The Metropolitan Opera’s video offers a glimpse of this special visit.
