Public Tours and Themed Tours

The Richard Wagner Museum offers a range of educational and interpretive programs that provide deeper insights into the permanent exhibition, Richard Wagner’s years at Tribschen, and current perspectives on the reception of his work. In addition to public guided tours of the exhibition, the museum regularly offers themed tours that explore specific aspects of Wagner’s life, oeuvre, and legacy in greater depth. Topics include Wagner’s everyday life at the Tribschen estate, his passion for textiles and interior design, and critical examinations of his antisemitism. Audio Guide for the Permanent Exhibition

The audio guide at the Richard Wagner Museum takes visitors on a 45-minute tour of the permanent exhibition in the Tribschen villa. Across 22 stations, you can explore the historic living and working spaces of Richard Wagner, including his study, salon and dining room, as well as the room of his son Siegfried on the first floor.

School Programs

Partnership with the Lucerne University of Teacher Education

At his villa in Tribschen, Richard Wagner composed some of his most significant music dramas. At the same time, he revised his antisemitic essay “Das Judenthum in der Musik” (“Judaism in Music”), a text that continues to shape critical discussions of his legacy and contributes to his status as one of the most controversial composers in music history. Addressing Wagner’s antisemitism with young audiences is an important concern of the museum. To this end, the Lucerne University of Teacher Education has been commissioned to develop educational materials and programmes for secondary school students (Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary levels). The collaboration with Prof. Dr. Franziska Metzger, Gabriela Gnoinski (M.A.) and Jasmine Steger (M.A.), who are developing the materials, began in autumn 2025.
