Thematic Tour marking the festival anniversary with Wagner expert Dr. John H. Müller

Dr. John H. Müller has been a longtime board member of the Swiss Richard Wagner Society (SRWG). While still a student, he was invited by then festival director Wolfgang Wagner to work as an assistant director at the Bayreuth Festival, which he has attended every year since.

As a stage director, he has explored Richard Wagner’s work in several productions. These include the second act of “Parsifal,” which was also presented as a guest performance on the Kleine Bühne at Theater Basel.

For several years, Dr. Müller has guided visitors through the Richard Wagner Museum, bringing Wagner’s life during his years in Tribschen vividly to life. For this public tour, however, he turns his attention to a special focus. Drawing on selected documents, personal belongings, and memorabilia from the museum’s collection, he traces the origins of the Bayreuth Festival and the history of Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung.”

Following the tour, pianist Tsovinar Suflyan will perform a short concert on Richard Wagner’s original Érard grand piano.
