Tribschen Chamber Music Festival

 May 21 – June 30, 2013

"Large Orchestra in Salon"
A festival for Richard Wagner in Lucerne

“What happens to music composed for large orchestra when performed with only several instruments?“ The Tribschen Chamber Music Festival examines this question in honour of Richard Wagner’s 200th birthday.

The festival program features such arrangements as the transcription of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 2nd Symphony for trio; Anton Webern’s brilliant quintet arrangement of Arnold Schönberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1 and even two premieres commissioned by the museum!

Naturally, the festival program includes music composed by Richard Wagner: in piano paraphrases by his father-in-law Franz Liszt; in bravura fantasias by his contemporaries in Zurich Joachim Raff, the Wesendonck Lieder, etc. the works are performed by the casalQuartett, the clarinettist Claudio Puntin from Zug, the flutist Eric Lamb from New York, the internationally acclaimed singer Susanne Bernhard and many others.

The opening gala takes place on
